Request to Transfer into the College of Letters & Science

The College of Letters & Sceince (L&S) welcomes current University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) students to transfer to the College granted they meet certain requirements:

Currently UW-Madison students must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA at UW-Madison and a 2.0 in their most recent semester at UW-Madison.

To sign up for one of these workshops, students must reserve a spot by going to the On Campus Transfer Workshop link.   Students need to select "Letters & Science Undergraduate Academic Services" option within the OHRD Catalog in order to select the appropriate summer On Campus Transfer Workshop.

If you are currently a UW-Madison student who wishes to transfer into L&S and need immediate advising assistance, please call at 608-262-5858 or email us at acac@saa.ls.wisc.edu.

Dropped Students

If a student has been dropped by another school or college on the UW-Madison campus and wants to transfer into L&S, the student must be readmitted by the original school or college prior to initiating an L&S transfer. L&S will not admit students who are in dropped status.

How to Transfer into L&S

  • Freshmen and sophomores (with 53 or fewer degree credits) are required to attend a transfer workshop.
  • Juniors and seniors are welcome to attend a transfer workshop but are not required.  Students with junior or senior standing (54 or more degree credits) should refer to Request to Transfer into the College of Letters & Science.

Please note: Students who are eligible to submit the online request form to transfer in to L&S prior to May 28th will not have their request processed until after their spring grades are posted.

  • For all current UW-Madison students who have an established UW-Madison GPA, that GPA must be at least a 2.0.
  • Workshops are held only between the 1st and 11th week of the Spring or Fall Terms. There are only a very limited number of scheduled workshops throughout the summer. Please plan accordingly.
